Brakes. Brakes are another important safety system, they keep you from smashing into the car that cut in front of you, or the child that ran out into the street. Brake systems generally don't require much maintenance other than monitoring brake pad, rotor or drum wear, and periodic flushing of your brake fluid (we suggest no longer than two years between flushes). If brakes are neglected or allowed to wear excessively, rotor or drum replacement will be required, and possibly master cylinder, caliper, or wheel cylinder replacement. Antilock brake systems (ABS) must be maintained regularly, or very expensive repairs *will* result. ABS is also dependent on proper tire inflation, tire size, and even tire wear to ensure proper operation. Let us know if your brakes grind or squeal, or you feel your steering wheel or brake pedal shudder when you apply your brakes, they are common indicators that service is necessary.
